WASHINGTON, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- One of President Obama's top advisors, Jason Furman, said that if the rich are feeling victimized by the president's policies, they are hyperventilating.
Furman pointed out that the effective tax rate for the country's top earners is actually lower than it was in the mid-1990s, and said any of the rich who feel unfairly targeted are missing the facts.

Obama has vowed to make closing the income gap the main focus of his political agenda for the rest of his time in office.
