BETHLEHEM, Pa., Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Facebook myths can be so bad for business that organizations have to respond.

Representatives from the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem in Bethlehem, Pa., finally decided to issue a statement regarding pesky rumors that snakes were slithering around their establishment.

“There have been no reported incidents of snakes on our property,” casino rep Julia Corwin said in a statement Tuesday. “We do not allow any animals on property with the exception of Service animals.”

The rumors reportedly started with a Facebook post, in which someone claimed to have visited the doctor with what was diagnosed as a snake bite. The patient had been to the casino, and the doctor said he sees plenty of patients "who got bit at the Sands."

"It seems like there was one post that was going around and then it's been kind of modified in a bunch of different directions," Corwin told the Express-Times.

"If I saw a snake I would jump on a table," she added. "If there was any sighting of this there would be no way that we couldn't know about it."
