Dean McDermott has admitted to cheating on Tori Spelling and decided to enter a rehab facility to become the "husband and father [his] family deserves".

"I am truly sorry for the mistakes I have made and for the pain I've caused my family," McDermott told Us Weekly in a statement. "I take full responsibility for my actions and have voluntarily checked myself into a treatment center to address some health and personal issues. I am grateful to be getting the help I need so I can become the husband and father my family deserves."

McDermott's statement comes a month after Us Weekly reported that he had cheated on his wife of seven years with a 28-year-old woman named Emily Goodhand while promoting his reality series, Chopped Canada, in Toronto on Dec. 6.

"He told me he and Tori had a sexless marriage," Goodhand said of the affair. "I believed him." The pair met through friends that day and returned back to his room at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel to have sex.

Spelling, 40, has yet to publicly address the affair and has continued to post pictures of her family since news broke about the cheating. She was last seen during a Disneyland outing in with her kids Liam, 6, Stella, 5, Hattie, 2, and Finn, 16 months, in mid January.
