Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Police in Fayette County, Texas, have arrested a New York City man suspected of killing his wife and two young daughters in their Jamaica, Queens apartment on Sunday night.

Authorities tracked Miguel Mejia-Ramos, 28, through his cell phone calls to his native Mexico, before Texas police stopped him driving a stolen vehicle on Interstate 10 near Shulenburg, Texas.

Mejia-Ramos' wife, Deisy Garcia, 21, and their daughters Daniela Mejia, 2, and Yoselin Mejia, 1, were found stabbed to death in their home on Sunday night. Police said each victim sustained "multiple stab wounds".

Garcia's brother-in-law, Romao Chuc, told NY1 that his son, the girls' cousin, found the bodies.

"When I go inside, I take the blanket -- because the two kids is covered with the blanket. So I pull the blanket when I see the two kids and they dead too. I can't say nothing -- they just died," Chuc said.

Police previously investigated two incidents of domestic violence at the home this year, and relatives told the New York Daily News that Mejia-Ramos was an abusive husband.
