Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Ke$ha checked into a Chicago rehab facility earlier this month seeking treatment for an eating disorder. Since she doesn't have access to Twitter from rehab, the 26-year-old singer asked an unidentified friend to type out a message for fans.

"This is Kesha's friend. She asked me to tweet an update for her because she doesn't have access to twitter right now," the friend wrote. "She says "THANK YOU. SOOO MUCH. I'm overwhelmed to tears by all of the love, letters, and support!! I'll be back soon and better than ever."

"Ohhh and she can't believe Timber is still number one! "Fck YEAH animals! PARTY ON!!!!" Ke$ha's friend added.

The "Timber" singer said in a Jan. 3 statement that she would spend 30 days in rehab.

"I'm a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself but I've found it hard to practice. I'll be unavailable for the next 30 days, seeking treatment for my eating disorder...to learn to love myself again. Exactly as I am."

Ke$ha's mom, Pebe Sebert, spoke to the media about the singer's struggles on Monday, telling People that her daughter "almost died" from pressure to stay thin. She blamed Ke$ha's former manager David Sonenberg and producer Dr. Luke for exacerbating her issues with her weight.
