Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Shia LaBeouf came out of his promised retirement Monday for a brief series of thoughts on Jim Carrey, who poked fun at him during Sunday night's Golden Globes.

Carrey, who stepped onstage to present the best comedy or musical film to American Hustle, quoted the old saying, "Dying is easy, comedy is hard," then added, "I believe it was Shia LaBeouf who said that. ... So young, so wise."

Carrey was of course referencing LaBeouf's alleged penchant for plagiarizing -- the 27-year-old actor is accused of lifting passages from a 2007 graphic novel "word for word." (He also appears to have plagiarized his apology.)

"If you explain @JimCarrey you've killed him, Nobody knows if it's for real or not. That way he's immortal," he tweeted.

He then tweeted a link to a music video featuring Carrey's daughter and a more obvious dig, "At least I don’t get arrested for indecency on major LA highways! Or abandon love child’s.”

Those tweets have since been deleted, but LaBeouf followed up with this final thought:
