Jan. 7 (UPI) -- "I didn't know how controversial I was! ;)" Candace Cameron Bure tweeted Monday. She linked to a recent HuffPost Live interview, in which host Nancy Redd asked the actress about her conservative approach to marriage roles outlined in her new book, Balancing It All: My Story of Juggling Priorities and Purpose.
The former Full House star, who married ex-NHL player Valeri Bure in 1996, writes in her book that she's "not a passive person," but plays a "submissive role" to her husband.
"The definition I'm using with the word 'submissive' is the biblical definition of that," Bure explained. "So, it is meekness, it is not weakness. It is strength under control, it is bridled strength. And that's what I choose to have in my marriage."
"Listen, I love that my man is a leader. I want him to lead and be the head of our family and those major decisions do fall on him," she added. "It doesn't mean I don't voice my opinion and it doesn't mean I don't have an opinion. I absolutely do but it is very difficult to have two heads of authority."
"Within my marriage we are equal in our importance," she said. "But we are different in our performances in our marriage."
Bure's traditional views won't come as a surprise to fans of the actress and her famously outspoken brother, Kirk Cameron, who both became Christians in their teens.
