NBC won't renew Ann Curry's contract when it expires.

According to Radar Online, the 57-year-old journalist's contract expires imminently, but the network has no intention of keeping her. Curry's rep, D.C. lawyer Robert Barnett, was reportedly formally advised that her $12 million-a-year deal won't be extended.

Curry has been the center of speculation ever since she was demoted from her co-anchor position on the Today show over low ratings and lack of chemistry with co-anchor Matt Lauer.

"I will still be part of the Today show family, in a different role," she told viewers on her last day as co-anchor. "To those of you who saw me as a ground-breaker, I am sorry that could not carry the ball across the finish line -- but, man, did I try."

Sources say Curry will go on one last big assignment for NBC News "next week" before leaving the network. As for her longer-term plans, another source told Radar that Curry's former boss Jeff Zucker, now president of CNN Worldwide, has expressed interest in recruiting her.

“If Jeff is interested, one thing is for certain: There is no possible way that Ann will be commanding $12 million or more in her next position,” an insider said.

Curry is a National and International correspondent for NBC News and the Anchor at Large for the Today Show.
