Jan. 6 (UPI) -- When they're not working on the Amazing Spider-Man films, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield make the most of their time as the world's most adorable couple.

In that vein, the 25-year-old actress and 30-year-old actor spent Friday learning to surf in Oahu, Hawaii, where they rang in the New Year last week (they snapped an Instagram photo with one lucky fan at Haleiwa Joe’s Seafood Grill).

Famed surfer Rory Russell reportedly taught them the ropes.

Though the couple are notoriously private about their relationship status, Garfield has had plenty of nice things to say about his girlfriend.

"It was like I woke up when she came in," Garfield has said of Stone's first Spider-Man audition.

She was the last person to screen-test, and I was so bored of it by then that I was mucking about -- I’d been pretending I was Tom Hanks or Seth Rogen. And then she came in, and it was like diving into white-water rapids and having no desire to hang on to the side. Throughout shooting, it was wild and exciting. I couldn’t help but try to stay with her, keep pace with her, and not let her get away.
