600-person brawl: Florida teens in court

Two of the five arrested in the massive Christmas Day movie theater brawl appeared in a Florida court Thursday.

Tevyn Alonza Davis, 19, and and Jaquade Marquis Miller, 18, appeared in court, charged with an array of crimes including resisting arrest and breach of the peace for the melee, which began outside a Jacksonville movie theater after a group of youths allegedly tried to rush an off-duty officer to get into a movie.

The officer used pepper spray to keep a crowd out of the theater and while the group fled, fighting broke out in the parking lot. Police estimate some 600 people were involved, mostly unsupervised juveniles, and 62 officers responded over the course of an hour and a half.

Davis, who a police report says was pulled from a fight and allegedly refused commands to "stop resisting," was arrested and charged with affray, breach of the peace and resisting an officer without violence.

He told the judge he wanted to join the military, and the judge is considering releasing him directly to the military.

Meanwhile Miller, who was arrested for attempting to punch officers, was charged with affray and resisting an officer with violence. He was released to the Save Our Sons program, a mentorship program that advocates for minority and disadvantaged boys.

Miller told the judge he was shaken and ready to stay out of jail.

"It's my first time hearing about the program, but I am grateful that they were there and they can support my son and myself," said Miller's mother, who did not want to be further identified.

A 17-year-old teen was also arrested and faces multiple charges, including breach of the peace and felony resisting an officer with violence.

The other two arrests involved juveniles, one who faces charges of public nuisance, refusal to disperse and resisting an officer. She reportedly yelled racial slurs and swore at police.

Charges for the third juvenile have not been released.
