The doctor who was killed and one of the two others who were injured in a shooting at a Reno, Nev., hospital Tuesday have been identified by police.
Dr. Charles G. Gholdoian, 46, was shot and killed before the still-unidentified shooter took his own life.
The shooter, toting a 12-gauge shotgun, reportedly walked past the front desk at Renown Regional Medical Center with and to the patient examination rooms on the hospital's third floor. He shot Gholdoian, Shawntee Spears, 20, and one other woman before turning the gun on himself.
Police say that, while the shooting does not appear random, initial investigations do not seem to indicate any of the victims was specifically targeted.
"We are trying to piece this thing together and see if there is a relationship at all,” Reno Police Deputy Chief Mac Venzon said. “But the fact that the shooter went through the first and second floor and made his way to the third floor of the building would indicate to me that it is not a random event.”
