Kevin Costner channels Liam Neeson in action-packed '3 Days to Kill' trailer

Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Taking a page out Liam Neeson's playbook is Kevin Costner, who stars alongside Amber Heard and awards-season ingenue Hailee Steinfeld in the upcoming thriller 3 Days to Kill.

Co-written by Luc Besson, who penned and produced Neeson's Taken films, 3 Days to Kill stars Costner as a terminally ill hitman who quits his job to spend time with his ex-wife and estranged daughter. But his agency wants him to complete one last mission -- in exchange for a potentially life-saving treatment.

Amber Heard, also known as Johnny Depp's girlfriend, plays Costner's fierce-looking colleague, while Connie Nielsen plays his wife.

3 Days to Kill hits theaters February 21.
