Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Julie Chen thinks The View made a mistake adding Jenny McCarthy to its cast.

While appearing on Howard Stern's radio show Wednesday the The Talk host said "no one wants to hear" what McCarthy has to say about politics.

"Because what made The View so popular and so good was that it was five different women -- from five different walks of life -- discussing politics," she explained.

"What put them on the map and made them good and famous, they don't do that anymore. No one wants to hear Jenny McCarthy talk about the New York mayoral race or politics. They don't. That's not what you put Jenny McCarthy on for."

Chen went on to say she believes ABC was trying to "lighten the mood" by hiring McCarty, but that in her opinion the show has lost its way.

"The View doesn't know what it is now," she said.

Chen's comments come weeks after her The Talk co-host Sharon Osbourne slammed The View's cast during an appearance on The Arsenio Hall Show.

“Barbara -- idolize her, divine, she is super-human. I love Barbara Walters. The rest can go [expletive] themselves!” Osborne said at the time.

McCarthy joined the view on September 9, 2013 during the show's Season 17. [AceShowBiz]
