Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Mandy Patinkin debuted his newly hairless face during an appearance on Live! With Kelly and Michael Thursday.
The 61-year-old Homeland star, who plays the bearded CIA Director Saul Berenson on the Showtime political thriller, explained he shaved off his signature scrub after he was done shooting the show's season finale.
"I shaved it the minute I finished the last shot!" Patinkin said smiling. "I felt like I was taking off a Mickey Mouse mask."
Patinkin added that fans don't even recognize him without his facial hair.
"The thing I loved most about it is once the show got more and more successful, wherever I go people would go, 'Saul, Saul!' I'd be in an airport in a foreign country and people would say, 'Sa-ul, Sa-ul! And I took it off and, like, nobody knows me," he explained. "This is what real life is like!"
The season finale of Homeland airs on Showtime on Dec. 15.
