Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Canadian actress Evangeline Lilly said she was "honored" to appear in a New Zealand Post stamp that marks the premiere of forthcoming film The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

Lilly, 34, who plays Elf warrior Tauriel in the second installment of The Hobbit franchise, said it didn't "get much cooler" than appearing on a stamp and coin from Middle-earth.

"I have so much love for New Zealand and so I'm honored that she is showing me such love," Lilly said.

Peter Jackson's sequel to The Hobbit premiered in Los Angeles Monday ahead of its New Zealand debut on December 12.

The stamps and coins released by The New Zealand Post last month also feature characters Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf the Grey, Thorin Oakenshield, Bard the Bowman and Legolas Greenleaf.

The Post also released commemorative stamps for the release of the first installment of the saga The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in December 2012.
