Dec. 2 (UPI) -- A police helicopter crashed Friday night into a popular pub in Glasgow, Scotland as more than 100 people listened to ska band Esperanza perform; recovery efforts continued through the weekend, with a ninth body discovered in the wreckage late Sunday night.

Scottish police confirmed that the dead included two police officers aboard the helicopter and its civilian pilot. Rescue workers had recovered five other bodies in the pub over the weekend. The discovery of a ninth body was announced early Monday morning.

After the crash at 10:25 p.m. local time on Friday, witnesses observed residents of Glasgow rushing toward the scene to assist. Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon commented in a news conference that "I think we were all moved last night by the way in which those who were in and around the scene did everything possible to help and the outpouring of concern and kindness today, I'm sure, will be a comfort to those affected."
