Jon Bon Jovi might want to buy the Buffalo Bills, report says

Nov. 24 (UPI) -- CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported Sunday that Jon Bon Jovi is "consumed with purchasing an NFL team," and he's got his eye on the Buffalo Bills.

But the 51-year-old Bon Jovi front man will have to contend with a number of interested buyers swarming around 95-year-old Bills owner Ralph Wilson.

The Bills and the Wilson family have already cultivated a relationship with Canadian group Rogers Communications, which already owns the Toronto Blue Jays and lobbied successfully to schedule yearly Bills games in Toronto.

Sources said Bon Jovi is aiming to be the principal owner -- it remains to be seen if he has the type of immense capital necessary to meet that threshold of ownership -- and has aligned himself with several powerbrokers in his effort to turn his dream into reality.

“Pro Football Hall of Fame member Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. is the founder and owner of the Buffalo Bills franchise," the team said in a statement. "The organization does not respond to reports of the interest other parties may have in ownership of the franchise or of speculation concerning various groups that may have such interest.”

Bills President and CEO Russ Brandon said back in October that the franchise wants to stay in Buffalo "for generations to come."

The Bills are currently worth $870 million.
