(UPI) -- Now that we're used to being shocked by Miley Cyrus, the 20-year-old "We Can't Stop" singer will probably never be able to provoke the kind of national uproar that followed her controversial VMAs performance last August.
So it was only a little bit surprising when Cyrus lit a joint onstage at the MTV EMAs in Amsterdam on Sunday.
The young singer, wearing a high-cut white leotard, stepped onstage to accept an award for her "Wrecking Ball" video, when she pulled what appeared to be a joint out of her purse, lit it and took a puff.
"I couldn't fit this award in my bag, but I did find this," she said.
Cyrus spent several hours Friday at an Amsterdam cannabis cafe called Greenhouse.
She also opened the EMAs with a performance of her hit, "We Can't Stop," during which she twerked and grabbed a little person's breast.
