(UPI) -- Jay Z is being sued by the record label of deceased R&B artist Eddie Bo for allegedly using a sample from Bo's 1969 single "Hook & Sling Part 1" in the 2009 track "Run This Town," which featured Rihanna and Kanye West.
The suit from record label TufAmerica alleges the track samples Bo's tune dozens of times. This is third time that TufAmerica has filed a complaint against Roc-A-Fella Records in Manhattan federal court this year.
The label says it is entitled to proceeds from “Run This Town” and damages to be determined at trial. The suit also seeks a court order to halt “further distribution and exploitation” of Bo’s song.
Jay Z, Roc-A-Fella Records, Atlantic Recording and several other companies are all named as defendants.
Both prior suits filed by TufAmerica against Roc-A-Fella were settled before trial.
