(UPI) -- Eminem hit the Saturday Night Live stage his weekend to perform "Berzerk" and "Survival," two tracks off his latest album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2. Legendary producer Rick Rubin stepped out to help him through "Berserk." Singer Skylar Grey showed up later in the broadcast for "Survival."

Though his album has been relatively well-received, Eminem's SNL appearance was not. Viewers noticed that the Detroit native's vocals sounded almost exactly like his studio album.

While the 41-year-old rapper has been known to use a backing track for live performances in the past, Twitter users and music commentators were quick to point out that even his lip syncing could have been better.

As Spin's Marc Hogan puts it:

Twitter was full of commenters pointing out it sure looked like Eminem was lip-syncing, and whether he was or not, that's the real crime: Here's the guy who wins every rap Olympic gold medal, and he couldn't even convincingly appear to be swimming.

"Eminem is lip syncing so hard. If you're gonna do it, at least practice," wrote one user.

"Eminem is obviously lip-syncing and isn't even trying to mask it," wrote another.

SNL has yet to post official videos of his performances, but you can watch a 30-second clip below:
