(UPI) -- Allen Iverson was almost always the shortest guy on the court, but his never-say-die attitude propelled him to one of the greatest careers in NBA history. He hasn't played in the NBA since 2010, but after a 15-year career, The Answer is officially calling it quits.

As Iverson prepares to make his retirement official Wednesday with the Philadelphia 76ers, the 6-foot-tall point guard is getting some serious praise.

Iverson is, "pound for pound, probably the greatest player to ever play the game," said LeBron James, himself considered among the best. "He was one of the greatest finishers we've ever seen."

Basketball Reference finds that, of the 41 NBA players 6 feet and under who played at least 500 games, Iverson is the only player with an average of more than 20 points per game.

"You could never question his heart. Ever," LeBron said. "He gave it his all. I think everybody in Philly, and in the NBA knows what kind of impact he had -- not only on the floor, but off the floor as well."

Iverson spent 10 seasons in Philadelphia before he was traded to the Denver Nuggets in 2006. He played for the Detroit Pistons and the Memphis Grizzlies. He played his last season with the 76ers in 2009-10.
