(UPI) -- Three weeks ago, the Jonas Brothers announced they would cancel their tour due to a "deep rift within the band."
Now, the group has announced a unanimous decision to disband after nine years and a Grammy nomination. Rumors about the split came in early October, when the group deleted their Twitter account.
"Please hold while we get our [expletive] together," Joe Jonas tweeted on October 22, when news of their potential split broke.
The brothers decided to officially call it quits in a meeting earlier this month, in which Nick Jonas said that he was concerned about the future of the band.
"I was feeling kind of trapped," he said. "I needed to share my heart with my brothers."
Earlier reports pointed to fighting between the brothers, and that Joe Jonas was struggling with substance abuse, but both reports turned out to be false.
"It's over for now," Kevin Jonas said.
"It's really hard to say 'forever,' " said Nick Jonas. "We're closing a chapter, for sure."
"It was a unanimous decision," Joe Jonas said.
The three are now reportedly working on solo projects.
