(UPI) -- Jason Aldean's tour bus was traveling north on US 41 in Indiana when a man "walked out into the middle of the roadway," Knox County police told ABC News.

Albert Kennedy of Vincennes, Ind., died from "trauma to the head and chest" and was pronounced dead at the scene.

"With a heavy heart, I'm sad to say that a man passed away last night after stepping out in front of my bus in Indiana," the 36-year-old country singer tweeted Monday. "In all the years I've been touring and all the miles we've driven, nothing prepares you for something like this to happen. I'm praying for Albert Kennedy's family and friends today and ask that you do the same."

Police told TMZ that Aldeans' tour bus driver was not at fault. Though investigators said they believed Kennedy's death was an accident and not a suicide, Sheriff Michael Morris said that Kennedy was often scene walking around town.
