(UPI) -- Wayne Newton's 65-foot yacht has sunk in a Lake Mead, Ariz., marina. The Las Vegas entertainer was not on board when the "Rendezvous" began its descent while moored in the marina, and no injuries were reported.
No one is sure how the yacht sank so suddenly, but a representative for the National Park Service said that it is likely related to equipment failure.
Tricia McCrone, a spokeswoman for Newton, said the yacht was in pristine condition and was filled with artwork and family photos.
The 60-ton 1996 Skipperliner has not leaked any fuel or hazardous materials into the water.
The Park Service and the Lake Havasu City Vessel Assist will begin salvage operations later this week, and from there, insurance investigators will begin a search for the root of the problem.
