(UPI) -- A North Hollywood neighborhood was evacuated after an explosion went off inside a parked pick up truck Tuesday morning.
The neighborhood was evacuated after the mysterious explosion blew out nearby windows and awoke residents at around 12:30 a.m, said Los Angeles police Sgt. Mike Kammert.
Authorities found the truck with a blown-off roof and at least one propane tank inside. The LAPD bomb squad was at the scene trying to determine what happened. Officials were focusing on the propane as the likely source of the explosion.
βIt was a pretty good boom,β Kammert said.
Although there were no reports of injuries, the blast shut down the neighborhood all morning. Residents within 100 yards of the home were asked to evacuated or to shelter until the area was cleared.
The home were the blast occurred suffered some damage, Hankel said. It was not immediately clear if the owner of the house of truck has been reached by police.
