(UPI) -- Casey Kasem, the beloved DJ who hosted "America's Top 40" for decades and is in ailing condition, only has months to live, his wife revealed in court papers Friday.

Kasem's second spouse, Jean, revealed that the 81-year-old radio personality does not have much time left as he battles advanced Parkinson's disease and the early stages of dementia as she responded to a lawsuit filed by the couple's former housekeeper.

Hilda Loza, who was also Kasem's caregiver, alleged she was mistreated during her employment with the couple.

Although Jean did not attend Friday's hearing, she said through her lawyer that "My husband is terminally ill and unable to leave home."

She went on to ask for a continuance for a few months to allow "the situation to resolve or end, unfortunately."

Jean's request seems to suggest that Kasem is close to death.

Over the past few months the Kasems have been in the spotlight after Casey Kasem's children staged a protest in front of his Beverly Hills residence claiming their stepmother did not allow them to see their ailing father.
