Before Kanye West and Jimmy Kimmel sat down to hash out their brief feud -- in which the 36-year-old rapper fired off a series of angry tweets comparing the late-night host to SpongeBob SquarePants and called his ex-girlfriend funnier -- Kimmel debuted a musicians' edition of "Mean Tweets."

The "Live" host introduced the segment as one "in honor of Kanye West's appearance."

"Since tonight is a night in which we'll be focused on a Twitter battle," Kimmel said, he'd asked famous musicians to read mean things people had written about them on Twitter. Selena Gomez, Jared Leto, Kid Rock, John Legend, Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, Lil Wayne, the Backstreet Boys and John Mayer are just a few of the musicians who showed up.
