Mike Wayans, Vanessa Simmons expecting first child

Mike Wayans and girlfriend Vanessa Simmons, both members of pop cultural dynasties, are expecting a baby girl, the 30-year-old actress and television personality announced this week.

"A little princess on the way," Simmons captioned a sonogram photo posted to Instagram.

Simmons, whose father is Run D.M.C.'s Joseph Simmons, said she was initially nervous about telling him because she's not married to Wayans, Damon Wayans' 28-year-old son.

"I was so nervous telling my dad at first being that I'm not married yet but he was very excited and is supportive 100 percent. His concern is just that I'm happy," she told US Weekly. "Both families are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new baby girl. She's coming into two huge families waiting to give her lots of love."

She echoed those sentiments in an interview with Essence.

I think somewhere deep inside he was kinda like, 'When am I going to experience that part of life?' Of course he wants us to get married, but for now he was like, 'We're gonna figure this out. Just be happy and have a healthy pregnancy. I'm behind you a hundred percent.'
