Hugh Douglas, former Eagles DE, charged with assault

Douglas was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree strangulation of a woman whose injuries he said happened during rough sex.

Hugh Douglas, a former defensive end for the Philadelphia Eagles, was arrested in Hartford, Conn., and charged with assault after allegedly attacking a woman in a hotel.

Douglas was arraigned Tuesday on charges of third-degree assault and second-degree strangulation.

According to court documents, Douglas "grabbed her neck" and "slammed her into the walls several times." Douglas reportedly said the injuries occurred during rough sex.

The 10-year NFL veteran played for the New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars, and briefly worked as an analyst at ESPN.
