Disney has pushed the release of Pixar production "The Good Dinosaur" from May 30, 2014 to Nov. 25, 2015, just three weeks after director Bob Peterson left the project.
No replacement for Peterson has yet been named, and Pixar is currently using a group of execs including CEO John Lasseter to steer the production.
In place of "The Good Dinosaur," Disney bumped Angelina Jolie's "Maleficent" up from July 2, 2014 to May 30, 2014. The move also affects the "Finding Nemo" sequel "Finding Dory," which was scheduled for a Nov. 25, 2015 release but will now open June 17, 2016.
The reshuffle means there will be no Pixar release in 2014, for the first time in eight years.
"Nobody ever remembers the fact that you slipped a film, but they will remember a bad film," Catmull said Wednesday when the changes were announced. "Our conclusion was that we were going to give ["The Good Dinosaur"] some more time."
