Break ups are hard, but they must be even harder when they become tabloid fodder.

On the same day that reps for both Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus confirmed their widely expected split, photographers spotted the 23-year-old Aussie actor leaving the Chateau Marmont with his mom, Leonie, in West Hollywood on Monday.

Hemsworth had just spent the weekend in Las Vegas for the star-studded Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Canelo Alvarez, where he reportedly flirted with Mexican singer and actress Eiza González.

Us Weekly also noticed that Hemsworth has stopped following Cyrus, 20, on Twitter, days after she ended their social media connection.

"She wants nothing to do with him, and vice versa. It's bad." a source told the mag.

Meanwhile, Hemsworth's brother Chris taped a sit-down interview with Ellen DeGeneres, who asked him about the media attention surrounding Liam's relationship with Cyrus on the same day the couple announced the end of their engagement.

"[Liam] seems to get lots and lots of attention as far as paparazzi, and partially that was because of the relationship that he's been in," DeGeneres said. "You don't have that kind of paparazzi frenzy around you right now, do you?"

"No, no, not quite. I'm lucky," Chris said. "I've spoken to a few people about it. I don't know that you can ever…It sort of is what it is. At times you're a target and at times you're not. If you have a film coming out or who you are dating and what have you… but, um, we've been lucky, my wife and I."

"We kind of live a pretty simple boring kind of life," he added. "We're not rolling out of clubs at 4 in the morning. Not to say that Liam is, by the way -- well, he has once or twice!"
