Lil Wayne talks seizures, retirement on Katie Couric show

Lil Wayne opened out about retiring, dropping out of high school and his addiction to syrup during an interview on Katie Couric's show "Katie."

While speaking of his children and what he likes to do with them, the 30-year-old rapper confessed he wants to retire when he's 35, which is in five years, so he could spend more time with them.

"I don't want to have no influence ... 'Hey you must do this, you must do that.' Because I didn't have that and because I didn't have that I grew up to be exactly what I wanted to be and how I wanted to be. I want that for all of my kids ... I know I'll be ready to retire at 35 because I am so ready to retire now!" Weezy explained.

Asked if he regretted not finishing high school, Wayne, who was an honor student according to MTV, said that he didn't.

"Not at all ... I mean, kids, please finish high school. And all my kids, you are finishing high school!" he said.

The rapper went on to explain that it was his mother's idea for him to quit school because of how dangerous it was. She reportedly made the decision after realizing he was carrying a gun in his school backpack for protection. To avoid having him go to school armed, she reportedly suggested he get a GED and go to college instead.

Wayne went on to talk about his addictive personality. A trait that even extends to his consumption of syrup.

When talking to doctors about what might've caused the series of seizures he suffered from, specialists blamed dehydration, lack of sleep, too hard work and possibly epilepsy. The rapper, however, claims that the seizures began to happen right after he significantly cut back on syrup.

Asked if he was still sipping, Wayne said no. When probed what prompted him to sop Wayne said, "my doctors. I was doing it too much."
