Alyssa Milano wants you to get a good night's sleep. Partnering with Febreze and the National Sleep Foundation, a new initiative aims to promote healthy sleep habits by highlighting the role scent plays in helping the drowsy drift off.
Febreze is releasing its Sleep Serenity Collection, the fresh scent company's first bedroom-specific line of air fresheners.
The National Sleep Foundation found 74 percent of respondents to its 2013 International Bedroom Poll said they fell asleep more quickly when their bedroom had a fresh scent.
Febreze said its researchers found certain scents were associated with the factors for better sleep: lavender to decrease heart rate and blood pressure, jasmine to increase levels of alertness after waking, milk and honey to increase the production of serotonin, leading to a feeling of well-being.
“Everyone knows how important sleep is in our lives and to our well-being, but we also need to give our bedtime routine the attention it deserves,” Milano said. “The soothing scents for the bedroom are the perfect way to set the stage for a peaceful night’s rest and help rekindle your relationship with sleep.”
