'The Butler' tops domestic box office for second consecutive week

Lee Daniels' "The Butler" has stayed at the top of the U.S. box office for the second weekend in a row grossing a total of $52.3 million to-date.

According to Box Office Mojo, the film earned $17 million over the weekend, which is 31 percent less than its opening weekend earnings of $24.6 million.

As Fool.com reports, with an estimated budget of $30 million, the film is already profitable just two weeks after its release.

Lee Daniels' "The Butler" is a Weinstein Co. historical drama about a White House butler starring Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey.
