You can always count on MTV's annual Video Music Awards for crazy fashion, unexpected collaborations and enough unusual celebrity behavior for hours of water-cooler conversation.

Rumors of a 'N Sync reunion inspired so much communal excitement last week, it would have been a major disappointment if the "Bye Bye Bye" singers didn't show up for Sunday night's awards show at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Despite denials from both Joey Fatone and Lance Bass, the band's sudden appearance on Twitter Saturday seemed to back up claims that the late '90s boy band had reunited.

On Sunday night, Justin Timberlake performed several of his solo hits before joining his former bandmates -- Bass, Fatone, J.C. Chasez and Chris Kirkpatrick -- for a blink-and-you'll-miss-it stage medley of their hits "Bye Bye Bye" and "Girlfriend."

The much ballyhooed reunion lasted about 110 seconds before Timberlake went back to his own songs -- "Suit & Tie" and "Mirrors."

And everyone went crazy:
