A new report shows that in the 2011-12 offseason, while Ryan Braun was appealing a failed test for synthetic testosterone, he shot back at the man who took his urine sample.

The suspended Brewer launched a smear campaign against Dino Laurenzi Jr., alleging that he was biased against Jewish people, and that he was a Cubs fan.

Braun eventually won his appeal after an arbitrator ruled his urine sample was mishandled. But in the meantime, Braun lobbied for support from players including Joey Votto, Troy Tulowitzki and Matt Kemp, telling them Laurenzi might have had it out for him.

Braun also mentioned Laurenzi's name to the media during a press conference on the first day of spring training. Reports from the weekend said Braun had begun apologizing to those he lied to and admitting to his drug use. He has not yet spoken to Laurenzi.
