The University of Tennessee debuted new uniforms for the team to be worn in at least one SEC home game this season.
The Volunteers traditionally wear orange uniforms at home and white ones on the road. This year, they will roll out a new Adidas-designed gray-and-orange uniform, worn with their white helmets.
Butch Jones, head coach at Tennessee, said that he thinks the uniforms will help with recruiting.
“If you had to put a top-10 list that the prospective student-athletes ask you, in the top three would be uniforms,” Jones said.
“We obviously have great colors, and we’re excited about the ‘Smokey’ gray addition to our traditions and our family here. A lot of thought went into this. We wanted to be very respective of our traditions, but also continue to move forward in this as well.”
The Volunteers have four home games against SEC schools. The uniforms will likely make their debut against Georgia on October 5.
