WWE superstar Darren Young said he was gay and "very happy" during an impromptu interview that took place at LAX Wednesday.
Young's confession came after a TMZ cameraman asked him whether he thought a gay wrestler could succeed in WWE.
"Absolutely," he responded. "Look at me. I'm a WWE superstar and to be honest with you, I'll tell you right now, I'm gay. And I'm happy. I'm very happy."
The photographer went on to ask the 29-year-old wrestler if he expected his coming out to pave the way for more wrestlers.

"I hope so," he said. "I'm hoping to be able to make a difference. It's very important to me that people understand that someone's sexual preference shouldn't really matter, it should be about the person."
Asked whether he thought people would look at him differently now that he was out, Young explained there was no reason for that to happen.
"I'm happy with myself, some people might not like it some people will like it, but I'm here to please myself," he said.
"We're all adults," he added later. "All sports are physical and to be honest with you when I come to work I come to work. Business is business. I'm a WWE superstar and I'm there to entertain the WWE universe and that is what my job is to do and I do it well."
According to TMZ Young is the first openly gay wrestler and the first headlining wrestler to come out while still signed to a major promotion.
