Amber Heard discusses bisexuality, defying expectations

Amber Heard was in a four-year relationship with a female photographer named Tasya van Ree before she started dating Johnny Depp.

The 27-year-old actress and model discussed her bisexuality in a recent interview with Elle, telling the mag that she came out at a 2010 GLAAD event because she "didn't want to look like I was hiding anything."

"I'm not, and wasn't ever, ashamed," Heard said.

When Elle pressed her about her relationship with the 50-year-old Depp, the "Paranoia" star said she hates doing what's expected of her.

"I don't imagine myself, my work, or my life, fitting into any kind of standardized path," she said. "In fact, the idea of there even being a standard freaks me out a lot."

People want to put me in a wedding dress and make me the object of affection, but I'd much rather shoot the gun and save the world. I've always fought against what was expected of me as much as I could.

"Paranoia" hits theaters Friday.
