Former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb thinks he's got some sage advice for young Redskins phenom Robert Griffin III, but RG3 doesn't seem to want to hear it.

McNabb says he tried to reach out to Griffin, and thought the two just never managed to make it work. But Griffin told GQ he wasn't interested.

"I don't think Donovan is an idiot by any means," Griffin said, "but right now, it's probably best that we don't talk."

McNabb has not taken kindly to the rebuff.

On his NBCSports radio show Tuesday, McNabb, who spent a season with the Redskins, suggested Griffin was getting bad advice from his team.

"I'm just trying to help him. Clearly the young generation, they think they have all the answers," McNabb said. "He’s going through a little turmoil right now, trying to make it out on the field, and it’s unfortunate."

"But that’s where we’re at right now as far as these young quarterbacks who think they have all the answers," he said, referring to Griffin's recovery from a torn ACL in January's NFC wild card game. "Until things start to fall apart and come down trembling on you, then you want some help. But it’s a shame."

"I honestly think that over there in Washington, he’s getting brainwashed," McNabb continued. "He’s getting input from whoever it may be on, ‘There’s no reason to talk to him, it didn’t work out here.’ If they expressed their dislike when I was there, or what I used to do, so be it. But, I hope the best for the young man, but the direction he’s going in is really a direction he does not want to do. He does not want to go there with me, especially when I got the last word.”

For his part, Griffin is probably far more concerned with getting ready for his second professional season than anything McNabb has to say.
