Tara Reid has some odd ideas about sharks [VIDEO]

Looks like Tara Reid learned everything she knows about sharks from "Sharknado."

The actress appeared with her "Sharknado" costar Ian Ziering on "Shark After Dark," the late night talk show airing on Discovery this week after the prime-time "Shark Week" content and proceeded to talk herself in circles about the mating habits of sea creatures.

"Today, I was like, all right, I don't wanna, like, really sound stupid when I do this show today, like... so I learned a little education on sharks," Reid told host Josh Wolf.

That sounds like a reasonable idea, but it seems like she might have been better off before Google, considering what she said next:

"So I look up sharks on the Internet and I see whale sharks so I'm like that must mean a whale and a shark have sex. And I think: How does a whale and a shark have sex?"

"Because there's a thing called whale sharks. So they must, you know? And then I realized that whales are mammals and sharks are animals. They have nothing to do with each other."

Wolf interrupted Reid to ask if she'd ever seen a tiger shark, but his joke -- and incredulous tone -- went right over her head.

"So basically the dolphins have sex with each other but the sharks don't, so I thought then how is it such a thing?

"But the difference is there is a whale shark which is the biggest shark in the ocean, but he's not so scary and then you got the great white -- there's like over 400 kinds of sharks but the whale shark is kind of interesting because he's not so mean -- he's not a killer."
