As speculation heats up over her mother's potential bid for the presidency, Chelsea Clinton spoke to CNN about her interest in politics and her desire to lead "purposely public life" on Monday.
"I'm grateful to live in a city and a state and a country where I really believe in my elected officials, and their ethos and their competencies," she said.
Someday, if either of those weren't true, and I thought I could make more of a difference in the public sector, or if I didn't like how my city or state or country were being run, I'd have to ask and answer that question.
"I had very much led a deliberately private life for a long time," Clinton said of her years as the president's daughter. "And now I’m attempting to lead a purposely public life.”
The 33-year-old's response to CNN is almost exactly the same one she gave to NBC back in April, during which Clinton also said she's support her mother's presidential ambitions.
“As a daughter, I very much want her to make the right choice for herself, and I know that will be [the] right choice for our country," Clinton said at the time.
Chelsea, who works with the Clinton Foundation and Clinton Global Initiative, is currently on a humanitarian trip to Rwanda with her father.
