Alex Rodriguez and his representatives are reportedly looking for ways to mitigate the possible lifetime ban the player could face for his connection to Biogenesis.

Sources are claiming that the 38-year-old player is looking to settle for a "lengthy suspension" to avoid the possibility of a lifetime ban.

On Tuesday it was reported that Major League Baseball officials would announce the suspension of Alex Rodriguez and eight other players this week.

The suspensions come as a result of the player's implication in a Biogenesis anti-aging clinic scandal, but while most of the participants are facing a 50-game ban, the stakes are higher for Rodriguez as he is also being accused of lying to investigators and interfering with an investigation.

According to Outside Lines, some MLB officials are pushing for a ban because "they would rather force Rodriguez to defend himself than agree to a suspension that allows him play while he appeals."

A source close to the incident has said that though MLB officials are willing to ban Rodriguez for life, they are aware that he will fight the sanction in arbitration.
