In the wake of the death of cast member Cory Monteith, the future of "Glee" is uncertain.

On Tuesday, actress Jayma Mays said she would be leaving the show after the next season. Mays plays Emma Pillsbury, McKinley High School's obsessive-compulsive guidance counselor and fiancee of Matthew Morrison's Will Scheuster.

"This is going to be my last season," Mays said. Her character married Morrison's in the last season finale, and her departure will provide another unexpected turn for the show's writers.

Season regulars Mark Salling, Heather Morris, Amber Riley and Harry Shum, Jr., had already announced they would not return to the show. Monteith's girlfriend Lea Michele, also a cast member, has said she would return but will have to relive Monteith's death on-screen.

Mays has been on the cast five seasons.

If offered a special guest role on "Glee" in the future, Mays said she would "love to do that."
