Weiner's wife speaks on new scandal details, relationship not in 'Danger'

As Anthony Weiner began his campaign for mayor of New York, N.Y., he knew that the scandal that led to his resignation from Congress would pick back up during his mayoral campaign.

No one expected "Carlos Danger" to be involved, however. A Tuesday report revealed Weiner sent further sexts and emails under the pseudonym "Carlos Danger" to protect his identity. Now, Weiner is forced to ask New Yorkers to "give him another chance."

Weiner said, "Some of these things happened before my [Congressional] resignation, some of them happened after." The woman who received the messages said she was promised help obtaining a job at Politico and a condo in Chicago, where they could meet up and have sex.

The woman came forward anonymously, saying she and Weiner had a relationship for six months. She said she believed they were in love.

"This was a bad situation for me because I really admired him. Even post scandal, I thought he was misunderstood," she said. "Until I got to know him. I thought I loved him.

"I just want people to really know he’s lying when he acts like he has changed."

In a news conference late Tuesday afternoon, Weiner said, "As I have said in the past, these things that I did were wrong and hurtful to my wife and caused us to go through challenges in our marriage that extended past my resignation from Congress.

"I want to again say that I am very sorry to anyone who was on the receiving end of these messages and the disruption that this has caused."

Weiner and his wife, Huma Abedin, are "moving forward."

Abedin had not yet spoken publicly about the scandal save for the message she sent by staying with Weiner. In this conference, she took the microphone and told reporters that she "strongly" believes the scandal is "between us."

"I love him, I have forgiven him, I believe in him, and as we have said from the beginning, we are moving forward," Abedin said.
