When you imagine Steve McQueen on the open road, a lumbering camper probably isn't the first thing to come to mind.

Still, the forest green 1952 Chevrolet 3800 series truck, complete with custom aluminum camper and painted grill, was the last vehicle the actor rode in.

He was driven in the camper from his Santa Paula, Calif., home to the Ventura County Airport on Nov. 3, 1980, on his way to El Paso, Texas and his last cancer surgery in Juarez, Mexico.

McQueen died Nov. 7, 1980.

The truck is up for auction by Mecum Auctions and scheduled to be sold July 26. It includes its original engine, body and paint, mattress and license plates, along with a certificate of authenticity from the McQueen Children's Trust, registration slips, and an ownership certificate from McQueen's attorney.
