Honda's "Mean Mower" has just become the world's fastest lawn mower.
The U.K. branch of the company paired with Top Gear magazine and racing company Team Dynamics to convert a ride-on mower to reach speeds of up to 130 m.p.h. while still cutting the grass. That would easily beat the current world record of 96.5 miles per hour.
The crew took a standard Honda lawn tractor and replaced its stock engine -- 20 horsepower -- with the engine and transmission from a Honda VTR1000 Firestorm, which has 109 horsepower.
They then reconfigured the suspension to support all-terrain tires and added the finishing touches. The mower can hit 60 miles per hour in four seconds.
Unfortunately, this was a one-time project for Honda, and the company will not produce a lawn mower that fast. Pity, since it would allow much more time for weekend plans.
