Scientology has made a habit of using celebrity followers like Tom Cruise and John Travolta to attract more converts to the mysterious and oft-criticized religion developed by L. Ron Hubbard in the 1950s.

But according to a New York Post report, the Church has lost "King of Queens" star Leah Remini, who has apparently decided that years of "interrogations" and "thought modification" aren't part of the spiritual experience she had hoped for.

“It all began when Leah questioned the validity of excommunication of people,” a source told the paper. “She is stepping back from a regime she thinks is corrupt. She thinks no religion should tear apart a family or abuse someone under the umbrella of ‘religion.’"

Remini reportedly questioned David Miscavige's management of the organization and even went through five years of something called "thought modification" when she asked where Miscavige's wife was during Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' 2006 wedding. Shelly Miscavige hasn't appeared in public since 2007.

“It’s not about wanting or not wanting to do Scientology . . . The issue is that [Miscavige] is taking down this church and hurting people and families," the source added.

"The Church respects the privacy of parishioners and has no comment about any individual Church member," a rep told The Hollywood Reporter.

Remini had this to say in a statement:
