John Oliver began his reign last night as host of "The Daily Show" and has already settled in quite nicely, according to reviews.

The former “senior British correspondent” for the show was called upon by Jon Stewart to take over hosting duties while he directs a film for the next three months.

And people are happy seeing John Oliver in Jon Stewart's kingdom. According to The Wrap, John Oliver jumped right in getting big laughs from the audience with a Michael Douglas joke that led into an exploration on government spying entitled, "Good News! You're Not Paranoid." But some trouble came when it was time for an interview with Seth Rogen.

Melissa Maerz from Entertainment Weekly says that Oliver's “questions” for Seth Rogen were mostly just praise for his new film "This is the End," but Oliver was quick to admit that he has never interviewed celebrities and doesn't know what he is doing. This is the kind of blunt self-awareness that attracts fans to "The Daily Show" for in the first place.
