Kindergartner Sophia Moss read 875 books in one school year at T.S. Cooley Elementary Magnet School in Louisiana.

"I just like reading!" she told KPLC-TV. The 5-year-old reads so much that she's already finished the kindergarten and first grade sections of her school library.

"I told Sophia, I said we're going to have to order more books for T.S. Cooley Library because she's read so many of them and enjoys so many of them," said Librarian Mary Lanier. "This is very unusual for a kindergartner, especially to read this many books in a year's time. Very unusual," Lanier said.

Sophia's father, Carl, helped her check out books from the school library, starting at five books and working up to at least 20 books each week. "She'd be reading instead of sleeping," Carl said.

Not only is young Sophia a voracious reader, she has also written her own book. Titled "Sophia's Pet," it's a story about a turtle with super powers. "The book that I wrote that I made all by myself and my dad helped me make it," Sophia said.

School librarian Lanier thought the story was wonderful. "I just thought, 'Oh Sophia, you are on your way!'"
